Advent Funeral & Cremation Services - Falls Church

Advent Funeral & Cremation Services - Falls Church is a funeral home in Falls Church, Virginia, in eastern Fairfax County. It is part of Advent Funeral & Cremation, a family of funeral home locations serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The location provides burial services, cremation services, funeral and memorial services, pre-need planning, reception and catered events, kosher catering, veterans services including military honors, ash scattering assistance, certified celebrant services, and memorial diamonds through a partner provider.

Advent Funeral & Cremation was founded in 1993 by Melanie Wilhelm Dunaway, a third-generation funeral director who sold her home to fund the company's inaugural facility in Annapolis, Maryland. The founder chose the name Advent for its literal meaning: a new beginning. The Falls Church location opened in 1995 as the brand's first expansion into Virginia.

The facility includes a chapel and accommodations for identification viewings and private viewings. Spanish-speaking staff are available to assist families.

Advent Funeral & Cremation Services - Falls Church does not operate an on-site cemetery or on-site crematory. Pet cremation, licensed grief therapy, and legal or estate planning services are not offered.

Families frequently identify individual staff members by name in reviews and consistently note proactive, client-paced communication as a defining characteristic of the arrangement process.

Cremation is performed at Chesapeake Crematory, a company-owned cremation care facility in Beltsville, Maryland dedicated specifically to cremation services. The care center is owned by the same organization as Advent Funeral & Cremation Services and staffed by company employees.  In the event that cremation equipment is unavailable, cremation will occur at another location.
