Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne

Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne is a funeral home in Melbourne, Florida. It is part of Ammen Family Funeral Care, a family of funeral home locations serving the Palm Bay metropolitan area. The location provides burial services, cremation services — including on-site cremation through the Space Coast Crematory, in operation since 1994 — funeral and memorial services, pre-need planning, veterans services including military honors, and ash scattering assistance.

The Melbourne location was founded in 1971 by George W. Ammen, Jr. under the name South Brevard Funeral Home. George's son Michael joined the business in 1973, establishing its family-led character that continued for 48 years. The Space Coast Crematory was added to the Melbourne location in 1994, giving the business an on-site cremation capability that has been part of its operations for more than four decades. The business formally changed its name to Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care in 2011.

The facility includes a chapel, an on-site crematory, identification viewings, and private viewings.

Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne does not operate an on-site cemetery or crematory, and does not offer pet cremation, licensed grief therapy, or legal or estate planning services.

Families with military service members frequently cite the team's experience coordinating veteran care, including arrangements with Arlington National Cemetery, and multiple staff members are recognized by name in reviews for their thoroughness throughout the process.

Cremation is performed at a company-owned cremation care facility in Melbourne dedicated specifically to cremation services. The care center is owned by the same organization as Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne and staffed by company employees. In the event that cremation equipment is unavailable, cremation will occur at another location.
