The Farley family has operated funeral homes since 1883. John J. Farley opened a funeral home in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1932, later relocating to Florida and opening the Venice location in 1962. The North Port location was established in 1970 by John J. Farley and his four sons, David, Joseph, Mark, and Phillip.

The facility includes multiple chapels, reception and event space, identification viewings, and private viewings. The North Port location does not have an on-site cemetery or crematory. Pet cremation is not offered.

Families have consistently noted the patient and accommodating approach of staff when coordinating services for large families and complex arrangements.

Cremation is performed at a company-owned cremation care facility in Bradenton dedicated specifically to cremation services. The care center is owned by the same organization as Farley Funeral Home & Crematory - North Port and staffed by company employees. In the event that cremation equipment is unavailable, cremation will occur at another location.
