Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services

Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services is a funeral home in Puyallup, Washington. The location serves families throughout the Puyallup area and offers burial services, cremation services, memorial and funeral services, pre-need planning, and veterans services including military honors.

Hill Funeral Home was established in 1908 by Ernest Newville Hill, a Spanish-American War veteran and licensed embalmer and funeral director. Hill is credited with introducing the first motor-powered funeral coaches in Pierce County. The business passed to Ernest's son, R. Vernon Hill, and continued as a locally owned family operation through five generations of the Hill family. For much of its history, the funeral home was located at 217 E Pioneer Ave in Puyallup before relocating to its current address.

The facility includes a flexible reception space/chapel area, and offers private viewings and identification viewings. Hill Funeral Home does not operate an on-site cemetery, an on-site crematory, and does not offer pet cremation services.

Hill Funeral Home holds certification as a Veterans Funeral Specialist provider and coordinates burial with national, state, and tribal veterans' cemeteries. Families frequently identify individual staff members by name in reviews, noting their patience and consistent responsiveness throughout the arrangement process.

Cremation services are performed at company-owned facilities in the Puget Sound area. Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services is part of a network of locations that includes its own cremation infrastructure — so families choosing cremation here work directly with our staff throughout, rather than being transferred to an independent third-party provider. In the event that cremation equipment is unavailable, cremation will occur at another location.
