Funeral Homes in the Hilton Head, SC Metro Area

The Hilton Head, South Carolina metro area is served by two locations providing funeral and cremation services across Hilton Head Island and the Bluffton mainland. The locations serve distinct communities — Bluffton and the surrounding Beaufort County area on the mainland, and Hilton Head Island to the southeast — giving families on both sides of the bridge access to local options. Services available across the market include burial, cremation, funeral and memorial services, and pre-need planning, though service scope and facility type differ between the two locations.

• Simplicity Cremation Bluffton is an arrangement center with on-site crematory serving Bluffton, South Carolina, established in 2019. The location is cremation-focused, providing cremation services and pre-need planning, and its facility includes an on-site crematory with identification viewings and witness cremation available. The location does not include chapel or reception space; families requiring a dedicated service venue or burial coordination are served by other locations in the area.

• The Island Funeral Home & Crematory is a full-service funeral home with on-site crematory on the northern end of Hilton Head Island, founded in 1981 by Allen and Nancy Richardson as the first funeral home established on Hilton Head Island. The location offers a broad range of services including burial, cremation, funeral and memorial services, veterans services with military honors, ash scattering assistance, certified celebrants, and kosher catering. The National Funeral Directors Association has recognized the firm with its Pursuit of Excellence Award six times.

Families in the Hilton Head metro area typically choose between locations based on geography, service scope, and facility type. Families whose needs include burial, a dedicated chapel, reception space, or specialized services such as military honors or religious accommodation will find those available on Hilton Head Island; families focused on cremation who prefer a streamlined arrangement experience may find the Bluffton mainland location more accessible. Both locations operate on-site crematories. Across both locations, reviewers consistently identify individual staff members by name — a pattern that holds across the market regardless of which location a family chooses.
