Mission Mortuary was founded in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey. In 1952, the business relocated to its current address at 450 Camino El Estero, within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean and the municipal cemeteries adjacent to the property.

The facility includes a chapel, reception and event space, identification viewings, private viewings, and a multi-sensory experience offering custom audio and video presentation capabilities.

Mission Mortuary - Monterey does not include an on-site cemetery or on-site crematory. Pet cremation, licensed grief therapy, and legal or estate planning services are not offered.

Cremation services are performed at company-owned facilities in the Santa Cruz metro area. Mission Mortuary - Monterey is part of a network of locations that includes its own cremation infrastructure — so families choosing cremation here work directly with our staff throughout, rather than being transferred to an independent third-party provider.  In the event that cremation equipment is unavailable, cremation will occur at another location.
