Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel

Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel is a funeral home in Santa Cruz, California. The chapel serves families throughout the greater Santa Cruz area, including Watsonville, and offers burial services, cremation services, funeral and memorial services, pre-need planning, reception and catered events, green burial, veterans services including military honors, ash scattering assistance, certified celebrant services, memorial diamonds through a partner provider, and human composting through a partner provider.

The business was established in 2000 by Gary Benito and Vince Azzaro, both of whom had been active in the Santa Cruz funeral industry since the 1970s and 1980s. Benito began his career in 1977 at Norman's Funeral Chapel; Azzaro relocated to Santa Cruz from Fresno in 1985 and joined him there. The two formed a formal partnership in 1999, acquired the Chapel of the Four, and opened Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel the following year.

The chapel itself occupies a structure built in the 1950s as a greenhouse, and copper pipes from that original use remain in the floor. For much of the building's early history it operated under the glass greenhouse roof as the Irvin M. Smith & Sons Chapel of the Seasons; a 2003 remodel removed the glass ceiling, which had made it difficult for speakers to be heard during rainstorms.

The facility includes multiple chapels, reception and event space, identification viewings, private viewings, and a Tahara room.

Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel does not operate an on-site cemetery or on-site crematory and does not offer pet cremation, licensed grief therapy, or legal or estate planning services.
