The Kernersville location occupies a historically significant structure on West Mountain Street, known historically as Plunket Place, with construction completed between between 1840 and 1848. Built as Kernersville's first schoolhouse — a modest two-room educational building serving the town's children — the structure is among the oldest surviving non-residential buildings in the city and carries a local historic designation. The building presents a Greek Revival/Colonial Revival hybrid architectural style featuring a symmetrical facade, large multi-pane windows, and a covered front portico. The property has housed a funeral home since 1930. After a period of vacancy beginning in 1990, Jack Pierce and Danny Jefferson acquired the building in 2004 and established Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services, following an extensive structural restoration that preserved the historic exterior while modernizing the interior with contemporary gathering spaces, technology-integrated event areas, and a formal reception parlor.

The facility includes a large chapel, reception and event space, an on-site crematory, and accommodations for identification viewings, private viewings, and overnight visitations.
