Alma G. Adams
August 31st, 1920 - February 15th, 2014
Alma G. Adams, 93, born in Newark, NJ, Married to William A. Adams. Alma passed away on February 15, 2014 as a result of an accident and subsequent surgery that she did not recuperate from. Alma was preceded in death by her father Charles E. Horn and her mother Fannabel Etta Buys, sisters Idella Kell and Carol Whittard, and brothers, Emery Horn and Rudy Horn. Alma is survived by her husband William, daughter Elaine Cidlowski, sons William Adams, Jr. (Betsy), Robin C. Adams, 2 grandsons, Michael (Alesha) and Ryan Cidlowski and 1 great grandchild, Kendall Cidlowski. Two sisters, Ruth (Hartcel) Hobbs, CA & Lois (Robert) Miller of Seattle. Alma followed her husband to Guam in the 1950's where she worked for the Navy as did her husband. They eventually moved to Truk Island (now Chuuk) where she worked for the Department of Interior. They traveled to many places in the South Pacific, Orient and Europe before settling in Treasure Island, FL where they built a small motel which Alma ran while her husband commuted to work at Cape Kennedy. Alma was surrounded by her cherished birds, the blue herons, egrets, snowy egrets, ducks and one particular seagull with a broken foot that visited for years. Alma was a member of the Eastern Star and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She supported many animal causes and contributed for years to The St. Labre Indian School and St. Joseph's Indian School.
