Angel Antonio Cruz Diaz

Mr. Angel Antonio Cruz Diaz, age 71, a resident of Davenport, Florida passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Heart of Florida Hospital in Davenport surrounded by his family. Mr. Cruz was born May 14, 1951 in Coamo, Puerto Rico to Pascual Cruz and Francisca Diaz. He was a Polk County resident since 2020 coming from Puerto Rico. Angel was a retired middle school History Teacher, a retired Army Officer and was of the Catholic Faith. He graduated from High School and the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico receiving his Bachelors in Education Degree. Angel enjoyed tinkering, tried to find ways to invent & fix things, woodworking, road trips and just being an all-around handyman. He loved spending time with his family & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Angel is survived by his loving family, devoted wife of 47 years – Teresa Baez Vega of Davenport, Florida; son – Antonio (Karen) Cruz Baez of Springhill, Florida; 5 daughters – Jessica E. (Daniel) Cruz Baez of Davenport, Florida, Angelica Cruz Baez of Puerto Rico, Marggie (Oscar) Cruz Baez of Puerto Rico, Amanda Candelario of Florida and Kiara Nieto of Massachusetts; brother – Jose Rafael (Lucy) Cruz Diaz of Puerto Rico; 2 half-sisters – Maria Santiago of New York and Rose Cruz of New York; 3 half-brothers – Joseph Cruz of New York, Oscar Cruz of Puerto Rico and Benedicta Cruz of Florida; 4 grandchildren – Jessmarie, Jordan, Naomi & Gabriel; nephew – Rafael and niece – Marlene. Visitation will be held Friday, July 1st from 2:00 until 6:00 pm at Kersey Funeral Home. Followed by funeral services at 6:00 pm Friday, July 1st at the funeral home.
