Ann "Harding" Kathryn Bacon
July 14th, 1943 - May 15th, 2014
Ann Kathryn Bacon, 70, passed away on May 15, 2014. She was born on July 14, 1943 in Akron, Ohio. Ann grew up in Westerville, Ohio and Washington D.C. She graduated from high school in Washington D.C. After high school she went to work in Civil Service for the US Air Force. She worked at Andrews AFB, Maryland; Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio; Bolling AFB, Washington D.C.; Lindsey AS, Germany; and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Ann met and married her husband Fred Bacon in 1968 in Wiesbaden, Germany where he was stationed with the US Air Force. They eventually came to Washington State after an assignment to McChord AFB and were married for 30 years. Ann was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, watching movies and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed the company of friends. Ann is survived by her son Tyrone Bacon of Tacoma, Washington; her daughter Theresa and husband Jeff Wise, and grandsons Jacob, Jonathan, and Jason Wise of University Place, Washington. Ann is also survived by her sister Carolyn and husband Neil Swickard of Savannah, Georgia; her nieces and nephews; Joseph Tingley of Johnstown, Colorado, Jeffrey Tingley , Sheila Tingley and Elaina and husband Chris Kelly of Savannah, Georgia, and Paula and husband Steve Thompson of Hagerstown, Maryland. Ann was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Frances Harding; and her husband Fred Bacon. Ann was instrumental in helping establish Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at Holy Cross Parish in Tacoma, Washington A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday May 29, 2014 at 10:30am at St. Rita Catholic Church: 1403 S. Ainsworth Ave Tacoma, Washington 98405. A Rosary will precede the mass at 10:00am. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery: 5212 70th Street West Tacoma, Washington 98467. A reception will be held afterwards at St. Rita's. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Rita Catholic Church.
