AMELIO, Anthony, 94, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013. Anthony was born in Liberty County, New York on April 30, 1919. He married Elizabeth D’Angelis on June 22, 1941 and was devoted to her until her death in 2007. They had two major moves in their lifetimes- one to Miami, Florida where they raised two children, Gilbert Frank Amelio (Charlene) and Maria Amelio Miles (Bruce “Cutter”); and then to California, having lived in Irvine since 1984. He had plenty of stories to tell of his time served in WWII under General Patton’s Third Army. He was a “can-do” guy who knew many trades. He worked in the family’s florist business at an early age and later found his niche working in commercial construction in Miami. His hobbies included bowling and golfing, which he enjoyed until his wife Betty’s health began to deteriorate. After that, he was never seen without her. He worked out of the Irvine Lanes bowling alley pro shop drilling balls for many years. After closing the to shop due to a change in management, he continued giving bowling instructions to his faithful students at Lake Forest Lanes. He was the last of 5 brothers and 3 sisters to pass. Besides his two children, Gil and Maria, he is survived by grandchildren, Todd Amelio, Lisa Tabarez, Ryan Amelio, Bill Smith (Marilyn), Missy Mallick (Rick), Eric Miles, Marc Miles, Helen Miles, Kim Miles, Emily Miles, Brent Chappell (Mandy), Tina Dubois (Dan) and 15 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Loyless Funeral Home.
