Archie Willard Heikkila, 85, of Floodwood passed away peacefully in his home Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born to Henry and Fanny in their Cedar Valley home on June 12, 1928. Archie graduated from Floodwood High School. In his youth he began work as a farmer and later started mining in Hibbing. Archie was a truck driver by trade, but his true passion was playing country western music. For over 60 years he entertained throughout the Northland including 17 years at the Minnesota State Fair. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Fanny; brother, Toivo Heikkila; and sisters, Taimi Heini and Thelma Heikkila. Archie is survived by his wife, Ingrid; son, James (Jennie) Heikkila of Carlton; daughter, Sherida (Earl) Nett of Floodwood; brother, Tauno Heikkila of Cromwell; grandchildren, Hope Heikkila, Shalom Heikkila, Isaac Heikkila, Titus Johnson, Tabitha (Josh) Monson, Signe Johnson, Caleb Johnson, and Zachary Johnson; and great-grandson, Eli Monson. A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
