Our servant of God, Audelia M. Sanchez, 86, was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, October 24, 2014. Audelia was born on April, 23, 1928 in McPhee, CO. She was the fifth child in a family of four brothers and four sisters. Audelia was a graduate of McCurdy Mission School where she met her high school sweetheart, Harold. The two were married June 5, 1947. Harold was ordained at the Evangelical United Bretheren (EUB) Church in 1956. Both Audelia and Harold were assigned and commissioned as home missionaries by the National Division of the former Board of Missions of the EUB Church, now the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Together, they served in the northern New Mexico Mission in Albuquerque and El Paso. They also served as counselors at Templed Hills (Rocky Mountain Conference) campgrounds. Audelia was known for her love of God and being a strong Godly woman who believed in prayer! She always spread God's Word with everyone she met. Audelia was asked to speak numerous times at women's conferences to share her and Harold's experiences on how the Lord was guiding them and using them to accomplish His work. Audelia had a wealth of experience in working with children and adult leaders. While Harold served churches, she was very active in children's work, boys and girls/youth fellowship, Sunday school, vacation church school, camp programs and in committee work. During that time, she served as secretary of the Local Church Board and the Sunday School Council. She was the church organist and pianist, one of her numerous talents. She audited courses in psychology, music, and Christian Education. She was also bilingual, speaking English and Spanish. With Audelia's busy schedule as a Pastor's wife, there was always time for her six children. She was a wonderful, most loving and caring Mother and Grandmother. Amongst her numerous talents, she was an excellent seamstress and made time to make Homecoming and Prom dresses for her daughters. She made the wedding dress and bride's-maid dresses for one of her daughter's weddings. She was her sons' biggest fans when it came to athletic events. Audelia and Harold enjoyed attending athletic events their sons took part in. Audelia liked music and loved to play the piano, organ and enjoyed concerts. She loved reading the Bible, singing, swimming, boating and baking. In 1995, the Lord blessed Audelia and Harold with the opportunity to travel to Israel. Audelia is preceded in death by her son, Philip Carlos Sanchez; daughter, Winona Susan Sanchez; father, Adelaido N. Martinez; mother, Altagracia Martinez; former son-in-law, Marc Stephen Harvey; brothers, Adelaido (A.A.) Martinez II, Audoro Martinez, Sammy Martinez, Alberto Martinez; sister, Adelina Martinez.
