“Live, love, laugh” was a lifelong philosophy of Barbara Caldwell Harling, who passed away on November 12, 2018. Her passions for life included driving her Mustang Convertible, riding horses, walking on the beach, spending time with family and a very dry sense of humor – which she generously shared with all who knew her. Barbara was born on September 7, 1930 in Albion, NY – a small town on the Erie Canal, where she attended a one-room cobblestone school house. A voracious reader and eager student, she skipped early grades and graduated from Albion High School at age 15. Barbara and her husband, Wells Harling, were married at Albion First Baptist Church in 1950 and lived on the family farm before moving to town. They got “sand in their shoes” and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1968 where they raised their daughters, Linda and Bonnie. Barbara and Wells enjoyed their retirement in Inverness, FL along with several vacations and visits to family. Six months ago, she decided to move to a wonderful independent living facility in Viera, FL where she made new friends, enjoyed multiple activities and swimming in the pool. Barbara’s daughters, Linda Calvo Kimbell and husband, Chuck live in Greensboro, GA. Bonnie Pruett and husband, Bob reside in Viera, FL. Barbara’s grandsons – Jason and Fernando Calvo in Georgia, together with Bobby and Brian Pruett in Florida, blessed her with 11 great-grandchildren. They all called her Lala – a source of unconditional love, validation and laughter. Barbara is survived by her beloved brother, Ace Caldwell and his wife Sandy, who reside in western New York. She will be missed by her deceased husband’s brother, Dr. Ronald Harling and wife Sue, who have graciously hosted her many visits to Albion over the years. A Memorial Service will be held 1:30 P.M. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Beckman Williamson Funeral Home 5400 Village Drive Viera, Fl. 32955
