Barbara B Sloan

Barbara Sloan passed away peacefully in her home in Port Charlotte, Florida on January 2, 2024, She was 92. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the daughter of Pearl Barney and Robert Fred Baker, Barbara grew up in Sunbury, Pennsylvania and went on to Pennsylvania State University, where she followed her passion for writing and fashion and received a degree in journalism. After graduation, she earned a position at the Philadelphia Bulletin as a fashion writer and soon after became the fashion editor, traveling all over the world reporting on the trends of the time. She moved to New York City in 1968 and that same year she discovered her favorite spot in the world, Cedar Crest, a small collection of homes on Peconic Bay in Southampton, New York. While raising her family and creating lifelong friendships with many of her neighbors, she embarked on a new career in real estate. Starting out with We Lead the Hunt, LTD, then Allan M Schneider Associates, and finally The Corcoran Group, she established herself as an honest, passionate, and straight forward agent with an eye for style and elegance. As a result of her grace and charm and a tireless work ethic, she earned a long list of wonderful clients and colleagues, most of whom she was proud to call friends. She lovingly painted; she casually wrote; she optimistically played the piano; and she loved her dogs. She is survived by her son, Barney and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Sloan and son, Fergus “Tod” Sloan. She was very much loved and will always be missed. There will be a private memorial. She would have wanted any donations to be made to the ASPCA.-
