Benjamin Franklin Kitchen, 95, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at The Summit. He was preceded in death by his wife Roxie Sims Kitchen. Born May 22, 1929, in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Thomas Richard and Annie Ragland Kitchen. He worked for Monteque-Betts for 24 years and retired from Buffalo Air Handling in Amherst, VA, after 15 years. He was a member of Terrace View Baptist Church.He is survived by one daughter, Linda K. Hughes (Harry) of Lynchburg, VA; a special niece, Sandra Robertson (Ronnie) of Forest, VA; one grandson, David M. Wilson (Jennifer); two step granddaughters, Lori Siebel and Kim Hughes (Jerry Crosby); two great-grandchildren, Brianna Wilson and David Wilson, Jr.; two step great-grandchildren, Brett Siebel (Jenna) and Bailey Siebel (Joe); numerous nieces; and nephews; and his best friend and fishing partner for many years, Eddie Wieringo. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, George, and Howard Kitchen; and four sisters, Lemore Abbitt, Dorothy Raikes, Eloise Feagans, and Violet Roberts. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Terrace View Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before in the church. The family asks that you wear casual and comfortable clothing due to the heat.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Terrace View Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
