Betty Lou Brazell Sweatt
July 30th, 1932 - March 19th, 2015
Betty Lou Brazell Sweatt, 82, of Lexington, wife of the late Aaron James Sweatt, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015. She was born on July 30, 1932 in Columbia SC to the late John W. Brazell Sr. and Geneva Corder Brazell. Mrs. Sweatt was a loving mother and grandmother. She was known to all as a kind and gentle southern lady, and will be missed by all who loved her. She retired from retail and was a member of Northwood Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Surviving are two daughters, Frances "Frankie" Edrington and husband John; Angela Helms and husband Edward; son, Robert Sweatt and wife Susan; sisters, Aris Brazell and Lurie Miller; brother, Kenneth Brazell; two granddaughters, Jennifer Taylor and husband Mark, Julie Fisher and husband Jason; five great-grandchildren, Judson and Madeline Taylor, Carter Edrington, Davis and Coleman Fisher. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sweatt was predeceased by one sister, Alma Rutledge and two brothers, John Brazell Jr. and Vernon Brazell. The family is grateful for all the kindness and love shown to her by the staff of Lexington Extended Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwood Baptist Church, 5236 Sunset Blvd, Lexington, SC 29072. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park is assisting the family.
