Betty Jean Struble, 87, of Venice, FL, died Thursday, May 29, 2008. Betty was born February 6, 1921 in Mt. Pleasant, PA. She was the daughter of Scott and Margaret Carpenter. She was the eldest of five siblings. She was married to Harry L. Struble for 52 loving years. Harry passed away in July of 1998. Harry and Betty moved to Venice in 1979. She was a long time and faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sarasota. Nearest to her heart was her love of God, her family, cooking and baking, meeting with the Pulmonary support group and being at Ed Smith stadium to see the Venice High School baseball team win the 2007 State Championship. She is survived by her four younger siblings; Florence and her husband Leon Porch of Burghill, OH; Donald Carpenter and late wife Liz of Greenville, PA; Nancy and husband Wes of Poland, OH; James Carpenter and his wife Joan of Burlington, NC.. She is survived by three children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her loving offspring families include: daughter Kathleen Shirley of Warren, OH and her son Frank Shirley Jr., wife Katherine and their two children Olivia and Elias of Cambridge, MA; her daughter Kimberly Mast , husband Christopher and their sons Samuel and Benjamin of League City, TX; daughter Pamela Lutenski, husband Richard of Bermuda and their three children, daughter Emily and Steve Chumney and daughter Sarah all of Ann Arbor, MI, and son Mark of New York City; son Keith Struble, wife Salli of Venice, FL and their daughter Kasey and husband Matthew Phillips of Washington, DC; and son Joshua at the University of Tampa, FL. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 31,2008 2:00pm at Faith Lutheran Church on Beneva Road, Sarasota.
