Charles Hubert Black was born on October 11, 1953 in the Los Angeles area. His father was H.O Black and mother was Charles-Mary Black. He moved to Salinas in 1960 from Southern California and graduated from NSHS in 1971. He returned to S. CA. to attend college and remained there to raise his family. He was a licensed Realtor. In 2012 he returned to the Monterey Bay area, worked as a Restaurant Manager, and lived here until his passing of natural causes on May 21, 2020. He loved his children unconditionally and took pride in their accomplishments. He had many sweet stories to tell and was always happy to show pictures of his children and grandchildren. He left behind 4 children: William (Taron), Kelsi, Lauren Mary and Anna along with their children. Also, he had 3 sisters, 1 brother, 3 brothers-in-law plus many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 1 brother. A family memorable will be scheduled at a later date. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 ESV

We Entrusted Charles Black's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
