Christopher Herbert Byars went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 11th, 2023. He was 53 years old. Chris was born on November 28, 1969, in Columbia, SC. He was a graduate of Lower Richland High School. After high school, he attended Midlands Tech where he earned an Associate’s degree in Computer Technology. He enjoyed cooking for and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, and especially enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach. Chris never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He was always there for the people he loved. Chris was an avid Carolina Gamecocks fan and member of Shandon Baptist Church. He is predeceased by his father, Herbert Madison Byars; paternal grandparents Ruby Christopher and Harry Paul Byars; maternal grandparents Lillie Mae and Robert Ellison; and beloved dogs Moo and Money. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Byars of Columbia, SC; sister Tammy Byars of Charlotte, NC; Angie Garner of Columbia, SC; numerous cousins, and beloved dog, Bella. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Shandon Baptist Church. https://shandon.org/ A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 6 – 8pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 1pm at Thompsons Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
