Daniel John Dopp

Daniel J. Dopp, 22 years old of Mosher Road, Perth, passed away Sunday night, September 18, 2005, as the result of an automobile accident. Dan was born April 18, 1983 in Amsterdam, N.Y., the son of David and Rebecca Kowalczyk Dopp, brother of Kathleen. He was a 2001 graduate of Broadalbin-Perth High School. Dan attended HFM BOCES where he received certification for a heavy equipment operator. He was of the Catholic faith. Dan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. His passion was snow machine racing. He was sponsored by NESRA where he raced Sport 4-40 and Trail Beginner Two. Dan placed in many different races and classes. He worked for the family business, D.D. Contractor, LLC, where he was foreman of the business. Danny had a natural talent for excavation work. He previously worked for CFI, Johnstown. Survivors include his parents and sister; his maternal grandparents Joseph and Irma Kowalczyk of Perth; paternal grandfather William Dopp of Perth. Aunts and uncles survive: Michael Kowalczyk, Patricia and Gary Weaver, Peter and Val Kowalczyk, Judy Hoyt, Joe and Robin Kowalczyk, William and Beth Dopp, Rose Dopp and Flint, Paul and Pat Dopp, Pat Dopp and Tony, and Pearl and John Bernaski. Several cousins survive. Danny was especially close to his cousins Jay, Gabe and Eric Weaver and his favorite little cousin Kayla Weaver. Dan had a lot of special people in his life: Vinny, Debbie and Lory Lansburg and many special friends who will truly miss him. His dog Brindle was of great significance to him. Dan was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Doris Dopp and by his best friend Peter Lansburg. Dan was a special person who will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. His gift of life will continue on as an organ donor. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Friday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Very Rev. James Gully officiating. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
