David Bruce Cameron
May 17th, 1953 - February 28th, 2018
DAVID BRUCE CAMERON David Bruce Cameron, also lovingly called Daddio, Big Dave, and Bigfoot was a loving father, son, best friend, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and great friend to so many unexpectedly passed away February 28, 2018 in Auburn, Washington. He was born in Fort Worth Texas to his loving parents Robert and Gloria Cameron who have preceded him in death. He was raised in California and after graduation from high school he immediately joined the Army, where he proudly served his country in Korea as an MP. After his service he returned to California then began to make his way north, eventually settling in Alaska. Dave became a Corrections/Prisoner Transportation Officer for the State of Alaska in 1985, working throughout the State of Alaska. He met his future wife Renee in 1990 and they were married in 1993. In 1996 they were blessed with their beautiful daughter, McKenna, who Dave called his “Smoocher Belly.” In 1999, Dave and his family relocated to the State of Washington where hebegan to work in the field of fiber optics, which eventually took him to Afghanistan in 2004, where he once again helped in serving his country. Dave enjoyed the outdoorsand was an avid hunter and spending quality time with his family and friends. He loved to teach his nieces and nephews new things, and they all have fond memories of their Uncle Dave. He also loved reading and learning about history, but more than anything, Dave loved his daughter McKenna Cameron (Bonney Lake) who he is survived by. He is also survived by Renee Cameron (Lake Tapps, WA); his brother, Jeff Cameron (San Francisco); Richelle and Kamron Peterson (Portland, OR), sister and brother in-laws, many nieces and nephews, and his “brothers from another mother” who always had each other’s backs. Everyone who met Dave loved him. He was a gentle giant who had a heart of gold and made everyone feel special, even if you just met him. His eyes twinkled and he had a smile that always made you wonder what he was up to next. To say that he will be missed is an understatement. A loved one stated, “Many never meet a man like Dave, God just doesn’t make them like that. Life with Dave was never a dull moment.” His passing has left grieving hearts, yet it has also brought so many friends back together to celebrate this amazing father, man and friend. He was a definitely one of a kind! A Celebration of Dave’s Life is planned for March 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Des Moines Beach Park Founder's Lodge, in Des Moines WA; with his final resting place to be at his favorite hunting location in Alaska. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations are made in Dave’s name (David B. Cameron) to the Wounded Warriors Project. Their website is located at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial, Funerals Homes, Chapels and Crematories. 253-566-1008
