David Martin Hutchins, 73, died November 29, 2020 in Monument, Colorado.He was born January 2, 1947 to the late Robert Ernest and Angeline Amelia (Aiello) Hutchins in Dayton, Ohio.David attended the University of Miami in Ohio and was an All MAC football player from 1967-1969. He was given the A.P. Honorable Mention All American award in 1969. On June 13, 1970, David married the love of his life, Carol Ann Strosnider.After college, David was a high school teacher for Butler High School in Vandalia, Ohio where he taught industrial arts. He nurtured his love of football and sports through coaching football and wrestling. He was a fantastic educator and mentored numerous students and athletes over the years. After retiring from teaching, David worked for McDonnell Douglas and eventually Boeing Co., where he was an Executive for twenty-eight years until his retirement in 2007.Even in retirement, David remained very active. He was an avid woodworker, creating many beautiful pieces of furniture. David was also a Civil War enthusiast, but above all, he was a fiercely devoted husband, father, and grandfather.David is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Carol Ann Hutchins of Monument, Colorado; his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Andrew) Carlile of Monument; his son, Brad David (Michelle Nowfel) Hutchins of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Amelia, Cameron, Amira, and Connor; and his sister, Roberta Ackley of Cincinnati, Ohio.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's memory may be made to the Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado (careandshare.org/how-to-donate/) or to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (rmhc.org/donate).
