Devon Amanda Hughes

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved Devon Amanda Hughes. After a courageous battle against breast cancer, Devon’s fight came to an end as she peacefully passed on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. With a radiant smile and contagious laugh, Devon brightened the lives of her family, friends, and everyone she met. Devon was born on December 10, 1991 in Lakewood, New Jersey, the third child to Kerry and Neil Scott and baby sister to Eric and Kyle. As a child, Devon loved the Lion King. The movie ran on repeat as she practiced her roar around the house. She was a feisty little lady, loving to wrestle on the living room floor with her dad. From a young age, she was a rocker at heart, making sure to catch any of her favorite bands as often as she could. Her true gift in life was nurturing children. Through many years of nannying and teaching pre-school, Devon lived her calling and her dream, forever leaving her imprint on the children for whom she cared. In 2007, Devon met the love of her life and best friend, Sean Hughes. The two high school sweethearts tied the knot on February 23, 2013. Over the course of their beautiful relationship, Devon and Sean spoke a special love language, making quirky gestures with their hands that only they understood. They enjoyed traveling, hanging out with friends, and, most of all, raising their two children, Aubrey and Jackson. Devon loved nothing more in life than being a mommy, and she was an amazing mommy at that. Devon’s beautiful life will forever be cherished and celebrated in the lives of the people she loved. She is preceded in death by her son, Aiden Hughes; her uncle, Greg Scott; her grandfathers, Jack Poznansky and Simpson Scott; and her father-in-law, Vic Hughes. Devon’s strength and compassion will forever be an inspiration to all who knew her.
