Obituary DOUG HARTWELL, 82 Douglas (Doug) Burton Hartwell, 82, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away, Saturday, January, 28, 2017 at his home. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 4 at Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 E Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907, Reverend Steven Miller will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Those wishing to sign Dougs guestbook may do so at www.cappadonafh.com Douglas was born January 1, 1935 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Lakewood High School in Denver in 1952. On May 16, 1959 he married Yvonne Lois Skjervold. Doug served in the U.S. Army, worked for Martin Marietta in Denver, Ampex in Colorado Springs and was part owner and Vice President of Pike Tool and Grinding in Colorado Springs. He enjoyed success in his work, is a cancer survivor and retired in 1998. He loved the outdoors, especially the mountains, and sharing the outdoors with family and friends. He enjoyed golf, motorhome traveling, boating, camping, bowling, off-roading and fishing. He spent most of his weekends doing any of these activities. He also enjoyed keeping his yard immaculate and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Douglas is survived by his two sons, Brian Hartwell of Aurora, Il and Bradley Hartwell of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, his brother Fred Hartwell of Denver, CO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva in 1994, and his wife Yvonne Lois Hartwell (Skjervold) just nine months before.
