Dr. Juan Miguel R. Rivera

Dr. Juan Miguel R. Rivera Born in 1929, in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico to Alberto and Maria Elena Rivera, he and his sister Gabriella, grew up in Guadalajara. He graduated with a degree in medicine in 1955 from Universidad de Guadelajara, Mexico He would go on to specialize in psychiatry and neurology, attending University in Kansas City Missouri, and University of Miami, Florida. Moving to Brevard County, Florida, in the early 1970’s, he worked until 2018 in private practice and was an attending physician at Wuesthoff, Cape Canaveral, and Jess Parrish Hospitals. Dr. Rivera was an avid pilot, and earned several different licenses. He actively flew his entire adult life. While working in Hawaii, he began scuba diving, which was a sport he actively pursued. He often combined his love of travel, with diving trips, always eager to explore a new locale.He was a voracious reader of spy novels and historical fiction. He played Spanish guitar, and continued to study with a teacher into his eighties. Dr. Rivera is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alis. His daughters Monica, Maria Elena, her husband Rick Juarez, and their daughter Elena Kailani; his son Alberto, his wife Sheenagh, and their children Isabella and Sairsha Rivera. The Rivera’s were members of the Our Saviour’s Parrish since 1979.
