Dr. Paul Pressman
May 29th, 1932 - October 13th, 2010
Obituary Dr. Paul Pressman, 78, a native of Paris, France, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Central Baptist Hospital. He is survived by one daughter, Lawrence Pressman, Lexington; a brother, Bernard Pressman, Paris, France; two grandsons, three great grandchildren and a niece of Paris, France. Dr. Pressman was born May 29, 1932, in Paris, France, the son of Joseph and Pauline Pressman. Dr. Paul Pressman was a Chiropractor, practicing in Lexington, Kentucky. He attended the "Voltaire University" of Paris, France, from 1948 to 1952 for his pre-medical education. He then continued from 1952 to 1958 at the Medical School of Paris, France, for his medical training. He went successively to the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, Illinois, and the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, from 1958 to 1962, where he received the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic. He practiced in Paris, France, from 1963 to 1970, practiced from 1970 to 1983 in South of France, Cagnes Sur Mer. After practicing twenty years in France, he decided to come to the USA and has had his practice in Lexington, Kentucky, since 1984 until his death. He worked very hard earning his way through college and medical school. He had a compassion for so many things in life and was the best in whatever he did. He played a lot of different instruments and played in a famous band. He was the creator of the world famous "Bouffant" hairstyle. His Parisian creation won universal acclaim with the Barbara Ann Scott Salon in Chicago, IL and also was international prize winner hair stylist for the movie "Trapeze". Dr. Pressman had a love and passion for his family and his profession. His honesty, faithfulness and devotion to his patients made them keep coming back. He would sometimes appear a little harsh on the outside, but on the inside he was such a loving, caring, sensitive person that was always willing and enjoyed giving of himself to help others. He would visit them in their homes or wherever they needed him. He had such a passion for traveling and fine food. He took many trips to beautiful destinations around the world, and lately spoke often about wanting to go back to France. We were planning a trip to France when he was to be discharged from the hospital. He knew how to work hard, when to play and how to enjoy life. He would often say "Americans" didn't know how to enjoy life. People would often ask him, "Why did you come to the United States?" and I (Bonnie) would reply by telling him, "I know why you did. So you and I would meet each other." I have known Paul for fifteen years. I have cared for him and loved him dearly. His memories will live forever and ever in my heart and in others. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later time.
