Eleanor A. H. (Knoop) Novak went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2017, at age 92. She was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on November 7, 1925. She was a resident of Marysville since 1966 and spent her last year living with her daughter in Sacramento. Eleanor graduated from high school in Stanton, North Dakota. She received her teaching credentials from Valley City State College in Valley City, North Dakota. She taught school for 3 years before enlisting in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She received her nurse's training at the Bismarck Evangelical Hospital School of Nursing in Bismarck, ND. Eleanor retired from nursing after 21 years at Fremont Medical Center in Yuba City. Eleanor was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marysville for 51 years. During that time, she served for many years as Financial Secretary, Chair of the Prayer Chain, and Chair of the Sunshine Committee. Surviving her are her children and grandchildren: daughter, Judith Alsop, daughter, Carol Longoria, and son-in-law, Raul Longoria, all of Sacramento, and two granddaughters, Sara Damrell and Lauren Longoria. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 59 and 1/2 years, Randall "Randy" Novak, son, Robert Novak, infant daughter, Carol Margaret, son-in-law, James Robert Mork, her parents, and her brothers, George and Walter Knoop. Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, January 3, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Services will be conducted on Thursday, January 4, at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1000 D Street, in Marysville. Committal will follow at Sierra View Memorial Park, 4900 Olive Ave. in Olivehurst .Services are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor's name to Faith Lutheran Church.
