Ellen S. Stanley passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on July 27, 2024, at the age of 77, in Charleston, South Carolina. Her battle with vascular dementia lasted a mere 13 months.

Born in West Milford, New Jersey August 5, 1947, Ellen spent the majority of her life in the Washington, D.C. area where she worked for Hyatt, a hospitality company. She was with Hyatt for many years, until she left her position as director of Human Resources at the Grand Hyatt Washington to pursue entrepreneurial interests.

Ellen was an outstanding quilter in her free time, winning multiple awards in both Pennsylvania and South Carolina for her intricate designs and craftmanship. Her artistry lives on in the hundreds of quilts she passed on to friends and family.  

Preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Jack Stanley, Ellen is survived by her two children Matthew James Stanley and Michelle Stanley O’Donnell. She was a proud grandmother of two children, Shane and Megan O’Donnell and two dogs, Zoey and Sofi Stanley.
