Eugene D. Heil passed away Tuesday, September 17th, surrounded by his three children. Gene was born in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to John Conrad Heil and Anna Maude (Shoener) Heil. He met his soul mate, Mary Frances Bushnell, and they were married in 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa. They had three children, Theresa, Mark and Patricia and lived in several cities and towns, including Chamberlin, South Dakota, Los Angeles, Mount Shasta and Delano, California, before settling in Boise, Idaho in 1971.

After serving in the US Air Force and graduating from the University of South Dakota, Gene started his banking career in 1962 as an assistant cashier and finished as an Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Gene enjoyed a long and successful 30-year career in banking where he enjoyed leveraging his capabilities to help other people. This was as small as a car loan for someone to get back and forth to work, to help finance the start-up capital for a Fortune 200 semiconductor company. He later became the main principal at Western Air Express, a work of love through which he could channel his enjoyment for helping people achieve success, and his passion for airplanes.

With his passing, he joins his loving wife of 57 years. Together, they shared a love for playing the stock market, auto-rallying, showing cars, spending time in McCall and with their pets.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, and his brother, Terrence Heil. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Heil, his three children, Theresa May (Ralph), Mark Heil (Michelle),  Patricia Agenbroad (Jeff) and 7 grandchildren: Brian, Katie, Tony, Ann, Amy, David, and Hannah, and many other loving family members.

A viewing will be held at St John’s Cathedral at 807 N 8th St. in Boise at 9:15am with a service to follow at 10:00 am on Friday, September 20th. Lunch will be provided by the family immediately following the service at Crane Creek Country Club.  Burial will be held on a future date at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
