Eugene P. Thomas of West Columbia slipped away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 31, 2019 at his home. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad, loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his church family from First Baptist Church of Gaston. He is preceded in death by his parents William Thomas and Mary Wright Thomas; his brother, Marion Thomas; his daughter, Sara Francis Thomas; and son, German Thomas. He is survived by wife Clara Thomas; son, Jim Thomas (Pam); daughter, Beth Kirven (Jimmy); granddaughters, Melissa and Sarah Dake, Stephanie Lange (Kris); grandson, Trey Sharpe (Jeannie) and his children Derrick, Shea, Bailey and Emily. Family will except visitors from 6-8 Monday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The funeral will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Gaston and burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Ott, Chris Pound, Tommy Furtick, Dwain Smith, Mike Rollinson and Glenn Pound. Donations can be made to Hospice Care of SC or First Baptist Church of Gaston in lieu of flowers.
