Frank Michael Piazza
March 9th, 1934 - August 4th, 2020
Frank Michael Piazza, 86, of West Columbia, passed away August 4, 2020 at Agape Hospice House of Columbia. Born March 9, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Peter and Madeline Quinero Piazza. Frank loved his Country and was a proud US Air Force Veteran. Following his military service, he completed his education at New York State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering and spent the remainder of his career in the engineering field. Frank enjoyed many hobbies but his favorite was woodworking. He once saw plans in Popular Mechanics Magazine on how to build a desk. He began working on this project and finished a beautiful piece of furniture that he proudly kept in his home. He also loved old movies such as Fiddler on the Roof and Charades to name a few. He was a huge Dean Martin fan. Frank enjoyed just a simple day of sitting in the sun and solving the Rubik’s Cube, which he mastered and wrote down the instructions to make it easier for others to accomplish. Friends put it best when they say, “Frank was a simple, humble man who loved people and the Lord”. Frank was a member of the Catholic faith. Frank is survived by two nephews, John Romano of San Antonio, FL and Thomas Romano of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by two very close friends of more than 18 years, Amy Davenport and her husband Lowell Cupps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Romano. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 20th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors. The family suggest that those wishing to make memorials please do so to Agape Hospice House, 141 Stoneride Drive, Columbia, SC 29210. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Piazza Family.
