Franklin D Falin, 86, Kingsport, TN, departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2024 at his home. He was born in Clinchport, VA on April 19, 1937, a son of the late William Balaam Falin and Clora Vadus Falin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Falin; second wife, Carol Falin; son, Anthony Falin; sister, Pearl Egan; brothers, Ronnie Falin and Bobby Falin. Franklin was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from the Tennessee Eastman Company after 26 years of service. He was a loving dad, papaw, brother and friend. Franklin will be dearly missed. Surviving are his daughter, Cynthia Elam and husband Gary; son, Dwight Falin; step-daughters, Kathy Campbell and husband Ralph, and Susan Slagle; step-sons, John Johnson and Gary Johnson; grandchildren, Nathanael Falin Dunlap, Franklin Falin, Cindi Michelle Woods and Isabel Falin; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Hammonds and husband Claude and Rosa Lee Williams; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Monday, February 19, 2024 at Scott County Funeral Home. Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. William Berry officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Falin Cemetery, Falin Hollow Rd, Duffield, VA with American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 providing the military honors. Everyone planning to attend are asked to gather at 9:45 am at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Falin, Nathan Falin, Roy Egan, Claude Hammonds, Shane Falin and Chris Falin Dunlap. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
