Carter-Trent Funeral Homes - Kingsport
Fred Parker
July 31st, 1932 - July 5th, 2019
Kingsport - On Friday, July 5th, a celebration began in heaven as our Dad, Fred T. Parker, met his Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with the love of his life, JoAnn Garland Parker. Dad was an awesome father, grandfather, brother and uncle - and friendly face to all he met. Dad was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, but had attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Church Hill TN, which quickly became home to him. Dad retired as a system analyst from Eastman, where he worked many years. Dad loved going to church and read his Bible for comfort and instruction every day. His favorite verse is Psalm 122:1, “I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.” He was predeceased by his father and mother, William Oscar and Burlie Parker; sisters, Emma “Polly” Price, Helen Parker; and brothers, Bill Parker, Charles Parker, and Jimmy Parker. Survivors include his loving children, Kathy Arnold (Garland) and Rick Parker of Church Hill; beloved grandchildren Noah and Sam Parker; sisters, Margaret Gray, Ruth (Larry) Dexter, Sandra (Lucian) Lawson; brother, Jack (Darlene) Parker; loving sister-in-law, Lula Parker Calhoun; several nieces and nephews. Dad also had many friends and neighbors at the Asbury Place at Baysmont. A military grave side service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 at East Lawn Memorial Park with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the rites. Pastor Travis Pierson will officiate as well. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:55 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2019 at First Freewill Baptist Church, 208 Maple Avenue, Church Hill, TN with Pastors Earl Dunn and Travis Pierson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First FWB Church, 208 Maple Avenue, Church Hill, TN. 37642. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Parker family.
