Grace J. Coons; aka Mom, Gracie, Aunt, Auntie (Bouillion, Podner), Grandma and GG; was born June 9, 1925 in Rolla, North Dakota to Florence and Spero Manson. She was one of eleven children. Grace was at one time or another in her life: a trained air traffic controller, homemaker, VFW auxiliary member, Turtle mountain band of Chippewa Indians member, bookkeeper, champion team bowler, meat wrapper for her husbands meat market, bartender, professional house cleaner, a long-time employee at the Rickshaw Restaurant Lounge, Elvis fan, puzzle solver, knitter, quilter and blanket maker. During her early years of child rearing she was the manager of a very busy neighborhood social hub (her home), and always the source of down to earth sage advice accompanied with plenty of unconditional love. She was exceptional at whatever endeavor she was challenged with and was always proud yet very humble of her accomplishments. Grace was a very pragmatic woman, always telling it like it was with a straight to the point delivery. A very non-judgmental woman who trusted her life to her faith in the Lord. Grace will be sorely missed by all who knew or crossed paths with her as she leaves us with an example of a life well lived. Grace was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Coons, children Lyle, Carol, William and Joseph. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Gary), Grandchildren Casey (Jenni), Jessica (Che), Breeze (Ryan), Joseph (Meaghan), and Tiffany. Great grandchildren: Jennifer, Jaidlynne, Edie, Ethan, William, Diesel, and Memphis. Grace is also survived by her sister Genevieve Brenny, brother and god-child Paul Manson; and her other God-children, Lisa, Jeffery including many nieces, nephews and people who loved her. A Rosary will be said on Graces behalf Thursday December 5, 2013 at 4pm at Christ the King Catholic Church at 405 N. 117th Seattle, WA 98133. Please join us for the Funeral Mass being held on Friday December 6, 2013 at 11am also at Christ the King Church.
