H. Chauncey Dean

Harold Chauncey Dean, Jr., 78, of Placida, Florida died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Venice Regional Medical Center. Born on October 24, 1934 in Wilmington, DE to the late Harold C. and Mildred Dean, Chauncey attended the University of Delaware (EE 1957). He followed his father in owning and operating the Bee Hive Company until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Wilmington West Rotary, was a Paul Harris Fellow and very proud of 45 years of perfect attendance. Chauncey was an avid golfer. At the U of D he was captain of the golf team and was a former member of the Newark Country Club and Concord Country Club. He was a current member of the Rotonda Golf and Country Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Jane Coulbourn Dean, his children, Gayle (Dirk) Taylordean of Greensboro, NC; Jill (Chad) Wegner of Muskegon, MI; "Hal" Harold Chauncey (Marcy) Dean III of Chatham, NJ and Shelley Dean Portaro of Charlotte, NC and nine grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of family, golf, sailing, and playing the ukulele. He will be greatly missed. Private services will be held at a later date. Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory has been selected to handle arrangements.
