Harold "Hal" Hunter, 75, of The Villages, FL passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Hal was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served proudly for six years. While enlisted, he served on the USS Patrick Henry and USS Clamagore. On September 4, 1971, he married the love of his life, Mary, and they lived in Old Lyme, CT with their two children, Margaret (Muffy) Hunter-Smith (Clarksburg, MD) and Scott Hunter (Old Lyme, CT). While in Old Lyme, he worked for Millstone Nuclear Powerplant for more than three decades and helped Mary run the Rogers Lake Liquor Store for over 20 years. In 2005, Hal and Mary retired to The Villages. In retirement, Hal was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and reading. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, Scott and Muffy, and his three grandchildren, Ethan, Sean, and Katherine. Hal will be dearly missed and always remembered. Hal requested a celebration of life be held in his honor. We request Hal's loved one to join us in celebrating their beautiful life at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home on the 9th of December and 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
