Harry Wilson
April 24th, 1937 - March 29th, 2015
United States Air Force Master Sergeant, Harry “Uncle West” Wilson died peacefully in The Denver Hospices on Palm Sunday March 29th 2015 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 76. Harry leaves to cherish in his memory; his wife, Zula Mae Wilson, Denver, Co; children, Jeremiah “Jerry” Hodges (J. Renay ) Denver, Co, Harry Wayne Wilson, Los Angeles, Ca , Harrietta “Wooda” Aileobini (Mohammed “Mo” Aileobini) Aurora, Co, Loretta “Jena” Davenport (Norval Davenport) Denver, Co, James Fitzgerald “Tiger” Wilson (Judy) Sioux Falls, Sd, Jacqueline Wilson, Denver, Co ; sixteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; sisters Georgia “Aunt Pie” Wilson, Victorville, Ca, Sarah “Aunt Baby Sister” Giles (Billy) Aurora, Co, Daisy “ Aunt Sis” Tye (Bobby Tye) Thornton, Co; and other extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother Daisy Wilson, father Eugene Wilson, brother James Gregory Wilson, sisters Annie “ Aunt Honey” Wilson Twiggs, and Mamie “Aunt Sweet” Wilson. Harry was born on April 24th 1937 in Tupelo, Mississippi the fourth of seven children to Eugene and Daisy Wilson. He graduated from high school then shortly after he enrolled in the Air Force. He married Zula Mae Askew his life time sweetheart, a grey blue eyed beauty from Alabama in 1955. After moving out west which was all Harry talked about to Denver, Co. Harry began working in the Air Force as a Medical and Commercial Illustrator, he designed planes, was an Air Force Pilot, worked as an Architect, Barber and retired as a Civil Engineer. Harry also served in World War II and worked as part of the Bomb Unit, Harry also got the opportunity to travel overseas to France where his oldest two daughters were born. Over the 60 years of marriage, the couple welcomed six children into their home and Harry set about teaching them honor, morals, respect, love and courage. His children remember him as jack of all trades, greatest father of all times, a good teacher, a leader and mentor, patient, driven and devoted father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams. Has a husband he will be remembered as a great man, provider, great husband and wonderful father. Harry was accomplished at a list of natural talents that took him far in life; he loved to draw, paint canvasses, sing, play the piano, organ, and guitar, also write and often in his early years he would gather around with family and sing. He also had a band that once made it to television and he made a record called Hard Rocking Harry. He would display his art and drawings throughout his house, some which still hang on the walls of his Montbello home. In that time he also owned the Aurora Art Center where he sold art supplies. He was a generous, funny, clever individual who loved the Air Force, music, art and who was passionate about family. He was an active and dedicated member of his family and the Air Force; he once served as member of the Secret Service, Air Force Police and a Free Mason. Harry’s family loved him so much that when he took ill, the whole family joined in and helped for over fifth teen years in care, he will be loved and missed dearly. A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 am Wednesday April the 8th, 2015 at Peaceful Rest Church located at 1195 Lima St., Aurora, Co 80010, with a military burial to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery located at 4400 W Kenyon Ave. Denver, Co 80236. The committal will be done by Rev. D.K. Crockhom. All family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers please do not take any flowers to burial site (strict military rules). The family would like to thank all the caregivers and hospital staff for their efforts, care and dedication over the years.
