Hazel Winifred Gruber passed away on January 11, 2013 at the age of 94. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Donald and Grace Edgar on September 23, 1918. The family moved to Richmond Highlands, Washington where she attended Ronald Elementary School and then Lincoln High School in Seattle, graduating in 1936. Hazel married Frank Miller Jr. in 1940 and had three sons they raised in the home they built in Richmond Highlands. She was active in the Ronald Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star in Edmonds. She helped start and worked in the family business, Miller Oil Company until after Franks death in 1963. Hazel married Charles (Ted) Barnett in 1965 and they resided in Edmonds. They enjoyed traveling around the country and attending dances with friends and family. Ted passed away in 1981 and Hazel married Frank Gruber in 1982. They lived in Edmonds until Frank died in 2004. Since then Hazel has resided at Sunrise Senior Living in Edmonds. Hazel was a great mom who enjoyed taking care of her family and was an excellent seamstress and cook. She was a strong person who dealt with the loss of her mother at age 16 and the death of three husbands, while always there to support her family. She is survived by her three sons Richard Neil of Shoreline, Daniel Earl of Snohomish, and Frank Dale of Bainbridge Island; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and her twin brother Hugh (Bud) Edgar of Bothell. Remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.
