Howard S. Wood, 67 of Venice, FL passed away August 9, 2008 at his home. Howard was born on August 16, 1940 in Coal Valley, AL the son of the late Travis E. and Mary (Bearid) Wood. Howard and his wife June moved to Florida in 2000 after his retirement as Sr. Vice President of Lanier Worldwide located in Atlanta, GA. He attended the Venice Assembly of God, was a member of the United States National Guard and served with the National Guard Reserves, Order of the Elks of Venice. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. He was a “natural born athlete”. Survived by his wife of 45 years, June M. Wood of Venice, FL; son, Tracy and wife, Rebecca Wood of San Clemente, CA; daughter, Kristan Wood of Venice; brothers, Troy Wood of Jackson, MS and Johnny Wood of Canton, MS; his sisters, Geraldine Whitten of Canton, MS and Joan Garland of Morton, MS; his grandchildren, Sarah and Caroline Wood both of San Clemente, CA A Celebration of Howard’s Life will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Venice Assembly of God. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
