Kathleen, GA: James â??Rayâ?쳌 Childs, 80, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Childs was born in Houston County, GA and was a lifelong resident of Kathleen, GA. He was the son of the late Steve & Lillian Jones Childs. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jimmie Nell Puckett Childs and his brothers, Marvin and Bobby Childs. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy on the USS Fletcher. He was a retired civilian civil engineer employee from Robins Air Force Base. Mr. Childs was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Suvivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Childs of Kathleen, son, Buddy Nancy Childs of Euharlee, GA, daughter, Jill Dove of Kathleen, step-daughter, Wendy Brad Lynn of Lanett, AL, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, siblings, Steve Childs of Perry, Helen Bob Durham of Eatonton, Ernest Lessie Childs of Bonaire and Jim Childs of Warner Robins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bonaire First Baptist Church @ 142 W. Hwy 96, Bonaire, GA, 31005, or to Bonaire United Methodist Church @ 144 Elm St., Bonaire, GA, 31005, in memory of Mr. Childs. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
