James Paddock James E. Paddock, Jr., of Junction City, OR, passed away on March 5, 2018, at the age of 92 of age related causes. He as born June 7, 1925, in Eugene, OR to James E. Paddock, Sr., and Winifred Worden Paddock. He was raised in Oakridge, OR, and graduated from Oakridge High School in 1943, where he was an athlete excelling in football, basketball, and track. He was an avid Duck fan over the years. Jim was a WWII Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy as a Torpedoman's Mate 1st Class aboard a P.T. Boat in the Philippine Islands. After the war, he had a long career as a lineman at Lane Electric Co-op where he later served in retirement on the Board of Directors. He married Evelyn Elizabeth Dumont, also of Oakridge, OR, October 11, 1947. They made their home in Eugene, where they raised their family. They returned to Oakridge in 1977 and built their retirement home on High Prairie. While living in Oakridge, Jim and Evelyn owned and operated Paddocks Ice Cream Store where they enjoyed visiting with locals and travelers alike. In 2004, they moved to Junction City. He was a loving husband and an active father, coaching EBAA Basketball teams for both sons in the '60s. Jim and Evelyn enjoyed traveling and also spent many happy hours trailer camping in Oregon. Jim is survived by sons, Jamie (Susan) and Gordy (Marilyn), of Eugene, ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Evelyn preceded him in death in 2011 after 62 years of marriage; he was also preceded by his five siblings. Personable, hardworking, and well loved, Jim will be remembered for his generosity and always offering to lend a hand. A private family service will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Eugene.
