James Leon Phipps, 88, of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2021. He was born July 10, 1933 in Cool Springs, SC to Sara and Ovia (OV) Phipps. Leon loved working outside, farming and spending time with his family. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Leon was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Leon is survived by his wife, Faye Tidwell Phipps; sister, Mary Romain; children: Stephen Alan Phipps (Steve), James Anthony Phipps (Tony) and Gina Phipps Byars. He also is survived by his grandchildren: Cory Cribb, Hannah Phipps, Seth Tollison, Connor Tollison, and Kaelyn Saxon; and great grandchildren, Elijah-James, Liam and Remington. Leon never met a stranger. He had the kindest soul and enjoyed helping everyone and sharing the word of God. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
