Janice A. Johnson

Janice Ann Wright Johnson Janice Ann Wright Johnson, age 67, of Satellite Beach, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Willard I. Wright and Nellie Eberhardt Wright of Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by her husband, William M. Johnson; two daughters, Karen Johnson of Rutherfordton, NC, and Angela Flavin and husband Kevin of High Springs, FL; and two grandsons, Jack and Tommy Flavin. Jan was born in Indianapolis on January 14, 1947. She studied music and home economics at Arsenal Technical High School, accompanied the school choir on piano, and practiced horseback riding and jumping as often as possible. She graduated from Tech in 1964, and then she continued her studies to become a certified dental assistant. She met Bill in the Indianapolis Hiking Club, and they married on August 16, 1969. In 1974 the family relocated to Denver, CO, and they lived along Colorado's Front Range for 16 years. Jan became an active volunteer at her daughters' elementary school and for Silver Key Senior Services in Colorado Springs. She encouraged her daughters to study music and helped lead the family on many camping, hiking, zoo and museum trips. Over 1989-90, she and Bill relocated to Indian Harbour Beach and learned to love their sunshiny barrier island neighborhood. The funeral service will be at Satellite Beach Methodist Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2014 with Dr. Joe Jursa officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Interment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Brevard Zoo, 8225 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL 32940.
