“Jessica Downey, 42, formerly of Mystic, CT, and Hilton Head, SC passed away on August 11, 2009. Born September 29, 1966 in New London, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. Downey and Barbara Christie Downey. Jessica lived a spirited life, spending her youth as a cheerleader and an accomplished gymnast. She attended Robert E Fitch Sr. High School and graduated from Wilton High School in 1984. Through her drive, enthusiasm, gymnastics ability and training, provided by her mentor and lifelong friend, Nicky Checker, Jessica earned a full scholarship to the University of New Hampshire where she obtained her BS in Leisure Management and Tourism Administration. After graduating from UNH, Jessica worked in the hospitality and marketing industries, including Disney
