It is with great sadness that David and Kent Adkins announce the passing of their Father, Joe W. Adkins, 89, of Sun City Center FL. Joe was born to Joshua and Lillie Adkins, in Hazel Green, KY on October 5, 1932. Joe was preceded in death by wife of 65 years, Joyce M. Adkins, his son, Pastor Michael Joseph Adkins, four brothers, Jesse, William, Arnold, and Paul and six sisters, MaryAnn, Ova, India Belle, Marie, Bessie, Carrie Lee and Lillian Grace. Joe is survived by one brother, Roger Adkins, and two sons, David (Renee) Adkins, Kent (Susan) and daughter-in-law, Dreama Adkins; Three grandsons Nathan, Jason and Chase Adkins and one granddaughter Beth Myers; seven great grandchildren, Hunter, Tyler, Makayla, Abby, Aiden Scarlett and Brantley as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Joe proudly served in the US Army, during the Korean War in England and in Utah, from 1953 to 1955. He retired from the Pipe Fitters Union in Ohio, then continued his career as a beloved pastor at the Streetsboro Church of God from 1971 to 2000. The funeral service will be at 2:00 on Thursday August 11, 2022 at Sun City Center Funeral Home at 1851 Rickenbacker Dr., Sun City Center, 813-634-9900. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota Florida.
