Joe D. Chavez, age 65, born March 12, 1949 in Albuquerque, NM went to heaven on Sunday, December 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Helen of 47 years; son, Simon (Felma); daughter, Trisha (Elias); daughter-in-law, Becky; brothers, Demetrio (Jessie), Steve Nieto, (Lorraine), and Joe Nieto (Josie); sister, Evelyn Chavez, and Patsy (Stash) and Mary Nieto; along with his grand kids; great-grand kids; and many nieces; nephews; his best friend Bob; and his loving companions Buddy and Chewy. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 beginning at 5:00 PM at the Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque, followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery; Pallbearers will be Elias S. Salas III, Elias J. Salas IV, Joeray Chavez, Jerome Chavez Gabriel Quintana, and Henry Felix. Honorary pallbearers are Fabian and Jose Chavez.
