Charlotte , North Carolina John Hastings Cutter III, 87 passed on peacefully with family by his side at his home in Myers park of 44 years on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. John was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 26, 1935 of George King Cutter and Nancy Bell Cutter. He was the oldest of four siblings. John attended Eastover Elementary School, Myers Park High School, Country Day, Camden Military Academy and Fishburne Military Academy. As well as his contribution to the United States Army. From there he Attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his bachelor of laws degree June 5, 1961. Shortly there after John met his devoted wife Rita, and together they built a successful law practice. John was passionate in everything that he did. He never settled for average he wanted to win and he wanted to win big. He loved salt water fishing, literature and golf. His passion for literature, boating and big game Sport fishing were his favorite pastime. He was a problem solver, respected by many in the community. He faced the challenges of life head-on. He didn’t make excuses. He was a man of integrity and determination. He was a great provider to his family and the kind of gentleman you could always count on. He is survived by his wife, Rita Fenner Cutter, sons, Konrad Hastings Cutter (Johnny), John Hastings Cutter IV (Jack) and grandchildren, Madelyn Bell Cutter, Benjamin Hastings Cutter, Jackson and Corinne Cutter and Autumn Coral Cutter, his brothers George King Cutter Jr. and Bryant Winslow Cutter. A memorial service will be held in his honor at the Elmwood cemetery in uptown Charlotte. Date and time will be posted by Hankins & Whittington.
