John Thomas Rast, Jr. Swansea - Tommy Rast, 61, of Swansea, South Carolina passed away February 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 21, 1955 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Johnny and Mary Emma Rast. Tommy was retired from Carolina Eastman where he was employed for 40 plus years. Tommy is survived by his two daughters, Meredith Stroman and her husband, Thomas of Gaston, South Carolina and Miranda Rast and her fiancee, Jesse Hicks of Swansea, SC; one brother, Fred Rast and his wife, Rhonda of Swansea; and four grandchildren, Tripp and Haley Stroman of Gaston, and Brantlie and Kaylin Hicks of Swansea. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Swansea First Baptist with the Rev. Terry Wilder officiating and burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital via www.stjude.org. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is servicing the Rast family.
